Is what happens to Roy in the hotel room his fault?  Explain.

  1. I feel like what happened to Roy at the hotel room wasn't his fault. Roy is just a baseball "rookie" trying to make it to the big leagues. Harriet so happened to be at the same hotel as Roy, and Roy didn't know. Roy does get a little freaky at times, but I don't think this time it was his fault. Roy went to that hotel cause he was by himself and since Sam died, he didn't know where to go since he doesn't know Chicago that much. Roy should of never listened to Harriet when she told him to come to her room, but he even noticed something was wrong as soon as he got there.

  2. What happened to Roy in the hotel room isn’t his fault. For one reason why it’s not his fault because he’s not from the city, he’s a country boy. So he wouldn’t really know what was going on. Another reason why it’s not his fault is because he liked this girl, and he was excited when she gave him her room number. Then when he got there he seen her naked so he just froze up because he couldn’t believe what was happening. It was basically a trap because she played it off with him on the bus when his hand was on her breast. Then she invites him to the room and she’s in there naked waiting for him. So I don’t see how anybody would expect to get shot in that situation.

  3. What happened to Roy in the hotel room wasn't his fault. I think this because no one seen this coming is was an unexpected event, they just happened to be in the same hotel. Roy knew that something wasn't right and I guess he didn't think about it twice in this situation. I think this wasn't his fault also because this was the city a way more different place then where he is from, that means different people and different surroundings. He didn't know where to go and he was feeling sad because of what happened to Sam. In conclusion I think this wasn't his fault because this was simply an unexpected event for Roy.

  4. I don't think what happened at the hotel room was toys fault. He's still a young kid and is still leaning what's right and what's wrong. What happened at the hotel was a situation that you would never expect to happen from a girl that you just met. She seemed like an innocent girl who was just hitting on him and trying to get a little something. I don't blame him for going to the room he thought that he might get with her and maybe get lucky that night. If I walked in to a room with a good looking girl that was naked I would close that door so fast and jump in bed. It just so happened that she pulled out a gun and shot him. You would have never expected that to happen.

  5. I feel that what had happened to Roy in the hotel room was just a coincidence and it wasn't his fault at all. In the description of Roy being shot by Harriet the details point out to us that Harriet is also the mystery woman that killed the famous baseball players. We also can see how after Roy shows off his talent Harriet turns her attention away from Whammer to Roy.In my opinion Harriet was on the train with the intention of killing Whammer until she found another more fascinating prey. Roy had no idea what this woman had in mind .In my opinion Roy could have done nothing about it he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

  6. I think what happened in the hotel room, is all Roy's fault. he shouldn't be worrying about girls and stuff when he has a huge tryout the next day. He should of gotten some rest for the big day. But instead he went to Harriet's room. First he should make it to the big leagues and then he could of started to worry about women. He should of saw how suspicious she was acting towards Whammer, and he should of known not to be dealing with such a strange girl. Roy should of been able to tell that she was up to no good.

  7. It was not Roy's fault at all that he was shot. He showed up to her room because she asked him to show up. How was he supposed to know that she was a complete basket case? He hadn't done anything to provoke her at all (except for some light sexual harassment that she played off rather well.) She did ask him some questions on the train before arriving and she didn't seem too pleased with his answers. However, they were truths! Plus, he thought that it was what she had wanted to hear, initially. Even if his answers were reason enough for her to shot at him, it still was not his fault.

  8. I do not think it was Roy's fault at all that he was shot. He could not have know that Harriet would have shot at him. She seemed innocent. She just asked him to come and he came. Most guys would not reject to meet a girl at a hotel, Roy thought that her can get with her. When he met her on the train he had no idea what was going through this womens head. Nobody would expect such a thing from a women when you just meet her. Roy was at a wrong spot at the wrong time.

  9. I think it was Roy's fault that he got shot. It takes a little bit of common sense to realize that athletes around him are dying and that he could be next. It was in the news that a woman was going around killing people with silver bullets. He should have known something was not right with the woman when she was interested in athletes, did not want to part with her hat box, and knew where he was staying. I myself saw this coming, as soon as I heard the news of the woman murderer I thought that Harriet fit the description perfectly. Dressed in black and suspicious. Roy should have connected the dots, but I guess he was blinded by her beauty.

  10. I think what happened to Roy at the hotel was not his fault. Roy was a socially awkward man that didn't know a lot. Harriet told him to go down by her, so he did, what he was supposed to do? he doesn’t know better. Also Roy was a teen that was looking for the things Herriot was "offering" any young guy would go. Roy never did anything wrong to get shoot, that's why he didn't think he would get set up like that, that wasn’t even close to his thinking. Everything happens for a reason though, the story is not over yet.

  11. In my opinion, I think it is not Roy Hobbs fault Roy Hobbs got shot. Roy Hobbs did kind of know there was a murderer that was shooting and attempting to kill famous and talented athletes. It was Roy Hobbs fault Sam died. All Roy Hobbs wanted to do was be a great player, Roy Hobbs wanted to be the best and Roy Hobbs wanted to be remembered. The two other things Roy Hobbs wanted were some money and some lady to love Roy Hobbs. When Roy Hobbs went to the hotel room, Roy Hobbs did not expect to get shot by Harriet Bird, Roy Hobbs expected a little something-something from Harriet Bird.

  12. I think what happened Roy in the Hotel room wasn't his fault. He was just trying to be a professional baseball player and when he was tricked to get in to the hotel with that girl, it overtook him. He was almost captured by a hooker. Roy is the type fellow that might be a little gullible and a bit ignorant but he does his best though and would go to any limits to get to the top of his baseball career. Roy Hobbs is a gullible person especially when he is around Harriet.

  13. I don't think what happened at the hotel room was Roy’s fault. Roy was still young and all this was new to him because he came from the country to one of the biggest cities in the US. And like most boys he liked girls. Roy did what almost every guy would do, he went to the apartment because who would rather sit in an apartment alone than being with one of the most beautiful girls you have ever seen. No one would have thought that a stunning girl would shoot you instead of having a little fun.

  14. I think it was his fault because it was more than a little strange when Harriet went from focusing on The Whammer to Roy after Roy struck him out. Roy is socially awkward and he did just lose Sam who he really relied on for basically everything, but common sense should have alerted him to the strangeness about that girl. He's read and heard stories about a female going around and killing athletes, you would think that would put him on alert. He could have avoided being shot if when he found out that Harriet knew what hotel he was staying in and what room to call. He also had another chance to avoid being shot when she pulled out the gun. I think he could have dunked behind a couch or a wall because she pulled the gun out right away but did not shoot it as fast.

  15. I don’t think it was Roy Hobbs fault for what happened in the hotel room. I do think it would be anyone’s fault for getting shot especially if you have done nothing wrong. Roy Hobbs was tricked into this situation and shouldn’t have to worry about whether or not he Is going to get shot or not. Roy happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. I don’t think there is any way to prevent this situation he really liked this girl and she was just using him to find out if he was worth a kill.

  16. I don't think what happened was Roy's fault. How would he have known that he was going to get shot. He was tricked into it buy a girl who he liked it's not like he knew what was going to happen. He was from the country so he would have never thought that this could happen to him. He seen a beautiful women and thought she liked him but it turns out he was wrong and that's what got him shot. I think anyone could have been caught in the same situation by a beautiful women and getting shot would be the last thing on anyone's mind when you are in that situation. So I don't think that it's his fault for what happened.

  17. What happened to Roy in the hotel room I think was not his fault because that was just him being at the wrong place at the wrong time. How could it be his fault for getting shot if he wasn't doing anything wrong? He was just trying to be with the girl he licked and wanted to get his mind off of his friends death. No one would assume that there going to get shot when they meet with a woman so he cant be blamed for it. The woman should be the one to blame for the shooting because she is the one who pulled the trigger.

  18. What happened to Roy was partially his fault but you really can't blame him for getting shot. Roy is only a shy young kid and Harriet is older and very attractive. It's the old tale of a temptress seducing a naive male looking for sex. Roy should have known better though. This mysterious woman who has something to hide, dressing oddly, and following around the best baseball player in the world, at the same time as a murderer is loose, killing all the best athletes in the world. This could have happened to any guy his age so the blame cannot fully go on Roy.

  20. Roy's decision to go to Harriet's room and consequently get shot in the gut is not his fault. Roy was just satisfying a common male's needs. There would be no reason to suspect Harriet to be the murderer. The murderer only killed big names and roy wasn't a big name yet. There wouldn't be a reason to kill him the only reason Harriet did shoot him was because she knew that he would be a big name due to the fact that she saw him pitch already. It's hard to believe Roy was thinking about the killer at all so no I would not put and blame on Roy. He was merely the victim.

  22. As Roy goes to meet Harriet in the hotel room, he gets shot in the gut, I don't believe it's hit fault. He was just doing what any young male adult would do. Harriet, an attractive older woman, but accused of murdering someone else, was perfect to reel Roy in. I do not blame Roy for going to see Harriet and it was just bad luck.
She shot Roy because she seen him pitch to the 3 time MVP and knew what potential he had so like the other star she murdered, she decided to kill Roy. It was very unfortunate and unlucky but I believe that this is a dream and the situation is not real
