In my opinion it doesn't matter that there is only 7.8% African Americans in the league. It's not that the MLB is racist, it's just that not to many African American people want to play Baseball. It wouldn't be bad if Baseball had all whites, or all African Americans. If someone wants to play baseball it should be because they enjoy playing the sport not because of the color of their skin.
No I do not belive that it matters that 7.8% of all Major League Baseball players are African American. It does not matter if you are white or black or what sport you play. You should play the sport you want to play and not be influenced by other people who want to change this statistic. It does not make a difference if you are white black or any other race, it does not change the sport. I think people are focusing too much on the statistics and too little on the sport. What happens when those people achieve the percentage that they want? Nothing, the sport will stay the same.
I don't think it should matter on the amount of people from a certain race that are in baseball. Everyone grows up from a different ethnic background, and they all play different sports. They shouldn't worried about a stupid statistic like that. You never hear about the NBA questioning if they have enough white people in the league. Because most of the people in the NBA are black. That's the sport they like to play, and thats the sport they are good at. Doesn't matter about what color skin they are. I think that MLB are blowing this way out of proportion and there making a problem out of nothing.
I don't think that it matters that there is only 7.8% of African Americans in the MLB. There might be many reasons why that is. They might not have been good enough to even play for a team or its just that they don't want to play baseball not because Major league baseball is racist towards them or anything. But That doesn't mean just because they are African American doesn't automatically mean they should be able to play it all depends how good someone is at the sport not what race they are. So i don't think that it matters because if they really wanted to play and they were really good there would be a higher percentage of African Americans in the MLB.
No I don’t think it matters at all that only 7.8 % is African American. I don’t see what that has to do with anything actually. No one is complaining that baseball should have more white people, or tennis less Chinese people or something like that. If you’re African American and you want to play baseball, go ahead. No one’s stopping you. I think Jackie Robinson is still mad about all those hate letters that’s why he wants more African Americans in the league but I’d be pretty upset if I was him too. There are still some racist people out there, but America did change a lot.
No it doesn't matter that only 7.8% of all Major League Baseball players are African American. It's just stupid and ridiculous how people would even pay attention to these stats instead of the stats that the players get. Besides I don't think that they should give that information to the public because that's how other racial slurs start, like what if people start to say that black people can't play baseball because it's a whit man's game. There are still people who are racist and that stat being out to the public just gives those people a chance to make fun of it. So that's why they really shouldn't make stats of this, and because it's not a big deal.
No it really doesn't matter if 7.8% of all Major League Baseball players are African American. I think this because baseball has nothing to do with race, a long time ago it might of have had to do with race but not anymore. Baseball is a sport and who likes it, plays it. In baseball it really doesn't matter if white, black or hispanic everyone is welcome in the game and it just happen to be that only 7.8% is black so what? It absolutely and will not have any affect on baseball it means nothing it just happen to be only that many black people playing next year it can change and there can be more blacks then whites. In conclusion baseball is a sport for everyone and everyone is welcome the fact that only 7.8% are African American means nothing.
In my opinion the fact that only 7.8% African Americans play baseball does not matter at all. Everyone is equal and everyone has equal rights and they can play whatever sport they wish to. It's not like someone is going around telling African Americans to not play baseball. It's not like a certain team doesn't want a player to be on his team just because he is African American. I think that some people with the help of media exaggerate the fact that not a lot African American people play baseball. If we take a look at another sports the percent of African Americans on the teams is probably even lower. I feel like there is no racism in the fact that there isn't a lot of African Americans in baseball but for some reason people try to make such a big deal out of it.
I do not think that it matters. It is not America because only 7.8 percent African Americans what to play baseball. It is like in any other sport. Two sports that are mostly populated with African Americans are basketball and football. This situation would be like saying that basketball and football need more white or Asian people. People only start thinking about the MLB being racist around this day is because April 15 is the date that Jackie Robinson stayed his career is the MLB years ago. Even though there might still be racist people in the world, I doubt that is it is in any professional sport now.
I do not think it is important for the MLB to raise the percentage of black people in the league because that, in an odd way, is promoting racism. It tries to create equality, but by forcing it, it creates racism and that's why racism exists. There are a lot more black people than white people in the NBA, but i do not see NBA executives trying to bring white people to the game because the facts are that African Americans play basketball more than baseball. No other sport would do this except baseball, so the MLB just has to leave their sport diversity alone and let it develop by itself.
No, I do not think that it matters that only 7.8% of Major League Baseball players are African American. If a person wants to play a sport then they'll play it, if they don't want to play then they won't. People have different skills and it just happens to be that not many African Americans are in the MLB. There are other people out there that I'm sure you'll find a smaller percentage for a different group of players. Teams draft and sign players based on skill and not on race. It really isn't a big deal, when you look at statistics there are many things that you may find surprising so this is only a big deal to those who make it a big deal.
I don't think it matters if the major league baseball has 7.8% African Americans. African Americans are not band from playing baseball like they were before. Anybody that's good in the sport and becomes successful makes it, it’s not about race. They might not like baseball as much as other sports there known for and they do well in the sport. Baseball does not have control over the ethnicities of the players its random, the good players make it the bad ones don't. It’s not if your African American your already out, they have their chances just like every other baseball player.
I think it doesn't matter what percentage of people are African American play or have played baseball. There should not be any public bostering about what percentage of baseball players in the world are African American. Although It is a good knowledge to have stored, when looking for information on what percentage of a certain ethnic background have played major or minor league baseball. This sort of information is not necessary for street knowledge but for successful baseball careers, this may be essential. -Daniel Aguinaga
I personally do not think it matters that only 7.8% of players in the MLB are black. I think it's completely unnecessary for the MLB to be trying to focus on getting black athletes to play baseball. It's okay for the MLB to have programs to try to get more kids into baseball, but they should be aimed for everyone. The decline of black players in pro baseball has nothing to do with racism or discrimination, rather the simple fact that less black people want to play. There can only be a limited amount of players in the league, and the rise of foreign players and the increasing popularity of other sports makes it so that black athletes either choose not to play, or they simply are not as skilled as some of the overseas prospects coming in.
I don't think that the declining percentage of African Americans in the MLB is something that really matters. There may be less blacks in the league (proportionally), but not due to racism. So why does it matter? I think what is racist is the league spending money to try to boost the number of blacks in the league. I like the RBI program, because it brings baseball, a sport that isn't all that cheap to play, to lower-income neighborhoods. But if the only reason they're starting the program is about race, then that's ridiculous. I think that the league only wants to increase the number of African Americans in the MLB to bring in more black fans. More fans means more money for the league; and that's the league's only motivation.
It does not matter that only 7.8% of Major League Baseball players are black. Does it matter that only 17% of NBA players are white? No. African American athletes dominate in other other sports, life football and basketball. Only 3.7% of NHL players are black. Is it so different that hockey and baseball are sports that are dominated by white people. There is more foreign players in baseball than blacks, so what, what if some of those foreign players are black. Jackie Robinson did a amazing thing when he broke the colored barrier between the MLB and the Negro League.
I don’t think it madders that only 7.8% of baseball players are African Americans. Baseball is baseball and everyone has the right to play now. African Americans just choose their right not to play that much baseball any more. Baseball lost its popularity inn America and is not the number one sport in America anymore, it is behind basketball and football. Also the number of foreign born players is going up each year and replacing the amount of African Americans in baseball. The number of white players in baseball is also going down as well not just the amount of African Americans.
To me it really does not matter that theres only 7.8% of african americans in the Major League. Everyone has their own way of being athletic and competing in a sport they grew up and love playing. Most african americans made their decisions to not play baseball because they probably would figure white people might make racial slurs about them playing a white mans sport. But that one player Jackie Robinson would always be remembered since hes the guy who broke the barrier between black and white being in a sport together.
I don't think it matters that only 7.8% of the majors is African American. If they want to play they will play. We can't force them to play a sport they don't want to play. They can play whatever sport they want to play. What Jackie Robinson did was great he helped break the color barrier. Just cause he did that doesn't me all his fellow African Americans have to play the sport he played. It doesn't matter what ethnic group plays what sport just as long as it is played the right way. That is the reason i think it doesn't matter why there is only 7.8% of the majors is African American.
I do not believe that it matters that 7.8% of all Major League Baseball players are African American. It doesn't matter because anyone that wants to play can play. It’s not like there is a limit or extra obstacles a African American has to go through to get to the MLB. Just like hockey baseball is an expensive sport to play that is why I think the percentage of black people in the MLB is so low. Most of African Americans play football or basketball because all you need for those sports is a ball and a place to play.
I don't think it matters that only 7.8% of baseball players are African American. They aren't racist because if they were there wouldn't be any African Americans playing. I think that maybe they like playing others sports more like basketball or football. They could join if they wanted to but they probably don't want to play baseball. That percentage could easily jump up if more African Americans wanted to play more baseball. In the end of the day it's all about what sport you enjoy playing most. There are more African Americans playing basketball than white people but we don't call them racist.
In my opinion I don't think it matters if 7.8% of MLB's players are African American. This is why I hate the world. Black is only the color of the skin, inside were all the same. I don't even think this should be a topic. People all race and color should be able to play not only baseball, but any sport. In basketball, a African American named Wilt Chamberlain, has set records off the charts. It shows that African Americans are as blessed as a person who's white and that they can play just as good.
In my opinion it does not matter at all that only 7.8% of all Major League Baseball players are African American. Everyone is equal, it does not matter if the persons skin color is black or white. Both races are equal. There is talent in both races. For example, Michael Jordan one of the best basketball players is African American , then there is Wayne Gretzky that was a star in the NHL and he is white. If there was more African American that wanted to play and had the talent to play in the major league then they would. An African American has to do the same a white person does to get to play major league Baseball. It doesnt matter who plays which sport.
I agree with you Evan, it Doesn't matter that 7.8% of all Mahor League Basevall players are African American. African American's are People, all the same as Whites, Asian Americans, and Mexican Americans. A baseball player is a baseball player no matter the race. We are all good players, it just depends on the effort we put into our games and plays in sports.
