ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I would choose the life style of dying a champion. i honestly would not want to hear the voices of negativity; some people always have to find a way to hate on a successful person. I would love to leave as a champion knowing that people loved the way i played the sport. Instead of being remembered as a person that scrubbed it up and live a normal life; I'd rather die as a champion knowing I left with something for everyone to remember about.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good point but maybe as a champion you have to learn how to block out those negative comments and keep striving, but you do also have a point.
DeleteI agree with you about dying a champion. Its much more rewarding than living a long life style where no even knows who you are.
DeleteI disagree in a way but not a bad way. You earned your spot as a champion screw what people say you know you better then anyone don't let anyone tell you different. Spend the money you earned and if you die old or young no matter what your slowly going to be forgotten about.
DeleteI agree with angel becuase dying young as a champ is great. people will remember you for what you have done. I wouldnt want to stay alive with hatred from people.
DeleteYou change my look on dying with fame never looked at it this way. It would be easier dying as a champion. You change my outlook on the one I picked
DeleteI would chose the life style that I would have my fame die and become old. I wouldn't care if people did not think I was the best. I would continue my life and still stay involve in the sport. I wouldn't live in the past I know their will be people in any sports that will get their record broken. Everyone will sooner or later be forgotten. This will be the better option in my opinion.

DeleteI would want to know how you would stay involved in the sport that you played. Would you be a coach or something like that?
DeleteThis is perfect its exactly how I feel. Don't live life worrying what people think or say. just live your life to the max
DeleteThis is a very good point because everyone will be forgotten no matter what happens to you so you might as well live life to the absolute fullest.
Deletei strongly disagree with your opinion reason being is that i actually feel like living until your old and lose fame would honestly be the worst. I would not be able to handle all the negativity
DeleteIf I had that choice to become the best at what I do, gain fame and riches, and live a long life, but is are forgotten by everyone after you retire. I would be happy with that.Even though being able to die young to keep that fame and to be remembered, isn't worth it. Being able to look back at these great achievements you yourself have accomplished would be a great honor, something you can cherish for the rest of your life. I also think that it would be fun to watch younger athletes taking those steps to become the best. "Its time to pass the torch".
ReplyDeleteI agree with your statement about fame not being so important. I also like your quote about passing on the torch even though you should not really use a quote without any sort of citation. By the way, your first sentence is a run-on,and your second one is a fragment.
DeleteThanks and I didnt read over my blog so there are other mistakes. I didnt mean that fame and riches meant everything, but to live your life enjoying the things you earned.
DeleteI enjoyed how you wrote about what you thought and that you cared more about what you thought. How you will enjoy your life amd nothing will change that
DeleteIf I had the choice I would choose to live a long life even after my fame period. To me life isn't just about sports and becoming famous. So what if I was the best in my sport and I ended my career as the worse. At the end I'm still going to have a name. That's what counts. I want people to remember me for every good deed I did in life. I don't want them to remember me just because of my athleticism.
ReplyDeleteI think that what you said about people remembering you for all of the good deeds you did in your life is a very cool way to look at your legacy.
DeleteI understand what you are saying because you want to show people your actions on and off the field; you will become a good role model to others.
DeleteIf I were to chose between these two choices I would chose the second option. I would much rather live a long life , gain fame and riches. It’s sad thinking about the fact that people will forget you after you retire but, on the bright side you will have family and friends who will still remember what you achieved and support you. If someone truly loves a sport and wants to play till the end they should not look at the fact that their fame might go away with time; they should continue playing and do what they love the most.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you! I agree as long as you have your friends and family's support, you will always be remembered in their hearts. Also, that you should play the sport because you want to play. It's not always about the fame. Great post!
DeleteYou couldn't have said it better! Being happy while your retirement and having support from family and friends is important. Knowing you died happy and having family and friends on your side is something special.
DeleteI would much rather live a long life after I play my sport and see my records get broken because it is a part of sports to have your records broken and see other players be better that you. I do not really care for fame all that much so I would actually be relieved that I would not be famous in my later years. It is a part of getting old that you decline and are forgotten.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said. It's all a part of life. It's bound to happen sooner or later. Even if you die your record will still be broken, you just wouldn't be alive to witness it happen,
DeleteIf I had the choice, the life I would chose for myself would be to become the best at what I do and die young. The reason I choose this is to have a meaning to my life. Also, to know the reason I was put on this earth was to become the best and die a champion. I would not want to continue to live knowing people did not care about me and that I was a has-been. Become the best, die young, and be remembered for what you have done.
ReplyDeleteI see where you're coming from, but don't you think you'd want to see your record get broken? Dying young isn't, in my opinion, the best option.
DeleteI see where you're coming from, but wouldn't you want to live to see your records be broken? Dying young, in my opinion, is no the best option.
DeleteI agree with you, I wouldn't want to continue to live knowing that people don't care about me. Its disappointing and you feel like you could of done better.
DeleteI agree with you, because you want to show the world that you are the best and be known as a champion when you die.
DeleteI agree with you because after all the person did in his life he has to be remembered. He can't just be forgotten for all his efforts he contributed to.
Deletei strongly agree with you because there is not point in living a long life if you're gonna hear all the negativity. i feel like the opinion that you had in this would explain how i feel perfectly.
DeleteIn my opinion, I’d rather die young than live a long life of sorrow. I would be put on this earth to accomplish one thing and once its done I can leave. Knowing I died doing something I love would be good enough for me. Living a long life and being forgotten by everyone would be boring and their would be no point of living. Dying a champion would be the best way to go.
ReplyDeleteMy choice would be to gain fame and die old. I personally believe that new people must take places of others over time, Like survival of the fittest. It's the cycle of life. And that doesn't mean I need to die for it to happen. Even if it was hard on me that I wasn't famous anymore, I'd come to realize this and I'd feel okay. Plus, No one can ever truly be forgotten like that. People who witnessed my achievement will look back on it and pass it on. Future athletes would use it to do greater things. If my doing can help others strive for more and do greater things than I'd be a happy women regardless of my fame.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a choice to choose between the two, I would choose the second option. Personally, fame and riches do not mean that much to me. If I were to become famous by playing a sport, it would be because of how much I enjoy playing it instead of wanting to become famous. Once I grow old, I would be able to tell stories to family members about the amazing accomplishments I have made. Nothing lasts forever. It is part of life.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you say that you have to enjoy the sport you play in order to become famous, not only want to become rich from it.
DeleteI agree with you as long as you have have your loved ones on your side for your support to them you will be remembered as a champion.
DeleteThis is a good point and I agree. I would love to be able to tell my grandkids about the gold medals I won in the Olympics.
DeleteI would rather die at my high point then to live and be defeated. If I were to die and have been known for being one of the best people would know who I am. But if I were very good and I lived a prolonged life people would beat my ratings and I would be a normal person. If I were to die at my high point to my knowledge people would remember who I was and what I did.
ReplyDeleteWow!, you seem like your having a bad day moe! Don't let people fool you man .. you should be happy and increase your potential to live how you want to live and not care what anyone has to say!
DeleteI agree with you. If i were to be a normal person, and not have fame what so ever i wouldnt mind because i would be used to it. but to have fame and die young would be fine because accomplishing somthing at a young age is so much more better than someone else accomploshing nothing at an older age.
DeleteI agree with you because the person you were before is the person you will be forever until you have your very last breath of life.
DeleteI would choose to to live long and retire because when I retire I would not be forgotten by my close friends and family. I will have plenty of money so I can relax and help out my family and friends if they are struggling. I will have kids who will see how great I was back when I was younger and hopefully want to be better than me. Sure I will probably be disappointed that my record would have been broken, but I will be proud that I was the best at what I did when I was younger.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100 percent. Sure, I would be disappointed that my records are broken but I gave it my all and at the end of the day that's all that matters. I also like how you would be helpful with the money you earned, I would do the same.
DeleteI agree with this too. As long as I got to do what I loved and was still "famous" within family and friends, I would be happy to the end of my days.

ReplyDeleteIf I had a choice to choose between dying young with fame and riches, or die old with fame and live a long life; I would choose dying young. I want people to know that I broke records at a young age; people will realize that I died a champion. I want people to think would I become better or worse if I was alive past my high point. When I’m dead I would want my records to get broken because it’s a challenge for young players.
ReplyDeleteI would have to disagree with you on this one. Why would you want people to think if you would become better or worse? Why don't you show them you are the best while you are still alive. You can see if people break your records or not if you were still alive.
DeleteDrew, I completely agree. To know that at such a young age, so early on in life I was able to do what I could do, is amazing to me. Continuing to live and get worse, I can’t watch myself slowly become incapable; it’s too hard to handle on a personal level I feel. Why would I want that? I wouldn’t. #dieyoung

ReplyDeleteBeing the best at something is definitely humbling and rewarding. Knowing how to play a sport almost to perfection is something not many people can do. Me personally, I would never prioritize fame and riches. The gift of a long, healthy life is much more interesting and important to me rather than dying young and famous. At the end of the day, what matters most is what you think of your own self. As long as you remember the highlights of your life and your legendary moments, no one else has to. You should live to please yourself, and not others.
That's a great way to look at it. I feel that sometimes these great athletes overlook themselves just so that they can impress others. Therefore, it may sometimes lead to putting a lot of pressure on yourself.
DeleteI totally agree with you that what you think of yourself is all that matters. It doesn't matter what other people think of you as long as you believe you have accomplished the best of your abilities.
DeleteIf I had the choose to die young or live longer I would choose to live longer because what's the purpose of accomplishing something great and you can't even pass the story on. People may forget my accomplishments but it could always be reminded. As long as my family and friends know and I know what I accomplished that's all it matters. Not even fame lasts for ever. There's only a hand full of people that are remembered to this day. It's all hyped people always want to talk about something and they get over it.

DeleteI absolutely agree about what you are talking about. Especially when you said your accomplishments can be reminded even though they are forgotten. I didn't really understand what you were trying to say in your last sentence though.
DeleteI feel as if you and I have the same opinion on this topic. It doesn't matter if the fans forget you you, it is inevitable. All that matters is that you and your family are there for each other.
DeleteI would have to choose to live life as long as possible even though that I would be forgotten. Setting records and being the greatest must feel amazing at the time that it is happening, but everything comes to an end either way. I feel that there is more to life than just being the greatest. You have family and friends that care about you and they will be there forever. Being the greatest only lasts a while; family will always be there.
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more with you Luke. I like how you mentioned the amazing feeling you feel during the peak of your life only lasts for that time being. I believe we all should live in the moment and take on whatever life brings you in the future. Even if you're forgotten.
DeleteLuke, I respectfully have to disagree because everything may come to an end, but what would not come to an end are those records and championships. You can die knowing you live a fulfilled life and have accomplished something big!
DeleteI would choose to keep living after my fame has run out. Being famous isn't the only thing in the world. If you truly loved the sport and were sincerely dedicated to what you were doing the fame and fortune wouldn't be the only thing on your mind. Living a fulfilling life is all that matters. There are many more achievements you can accomplish, other than setting records, long after your career has ended as a famous athlete. After the spotlight has faded you could focus on other things like your family and friends. What is the point of leaving behind a name for yourself if you aren't there to witness how your name has carried on?
ReplyDeleteI like what your trying to say.. Its so good to hear a confident person like is believing in them sleeves and is brave enough to let there emotions out
DeleteI would have to disagree on the last sentence. What makes you think just because you yourself are not there to witness your great reputation after you have died that there is no point? What about the family you have that would say "wow my brother did this" or "wow my cousin did this", etc. Maybe you have died but the memory has not.
DeletePersonally fame means absolutely nothing to me, in fact I would rather not have anybody know me besides friends and family. So I would have to choose living a long life filled with ups and downs and all that other good stuff after my retirement. As long as all my prized possessions such as all the memories and accomplishments are with ME then that's all that matters to me. The game should be played for yourself and loved ones, that's how I look at it.
ReplyDeleteI like what your trying to say man , I never knew that a man like you would be this brave enough to let everyone know how your feeling and telling them how you really feel.
DeleteBro, what are you talking about?
DeleteI did not look at it this way when I first read this but this is one of my biggest perspective on sports. It should never be about the fame but instead love for the game. In today's proffesional athletics I feel that fame is all that matters and it is sad but it's what it has came down to. Another thing is money gained other than fame. Money speaks louder than the actual sport or athlete.

DeleteMany people today play for the fame and money. Sometimes they are so obsessed with it that they forget why their even playing the game. That's why I agree with you not being famous and being with you family sometime is the best way to go. At least better then not remembering the fact why you once even started playing the sport.
DeleteI would rather gain riches and fame and live a long healthy life. Even if my name will be forgotten when I'm old and retired, I'll carry on those memories with me. There is so much more to life that defines you as a person. There are also so many more accomplishments to achieve throughout life. Family and friends become priority once you get older, and a game is just a game. It's what you make of it that brings a meaning to this game. However, its common in life for things to come to an end. So it's important to cherish the opportunities you get in life and smile when they come to an end.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you because family and friends should be the most important thing in your life, not just trying to set records and to be famous.
DeleteI agree with you Kmin because nothing lasts forever.Family is all that matters in the end and the people that are there for you before the fame and are still there after, are the people who truly love you. When you have people like that, its a reason to live a long life and ignore the fame.
DeleteAs a professional athlete, I would rather gain my riches and fame then die young. I feel that in this case my name will be always remembered rather than to be alive and watch it die down. When I make a dramatic change or improvement, people will remember me as the first person to do it or set new records. When I die my fame does not die with me, instead its what helps people remember me. If I were to stay alive I think I would be overwhelmed by the fame I once had that is no longer there. I would not want to see sports evolve and make my records and accomplishments seem like nothing. Also my death would be mourned by many more people if I were to be at the climax of my fame.
ReplyDeleteI see where you're coming from Sajeda. However it seems like you're more about being popular than what the game is all about. It's suppose to be fun and if you die young then you will never be able to play the game you love again.
DeleteIf I were to choose between the two I would choose that my fame dies out when I retire but that I live a long and healthy life. The reason behind my answer is that there is more to life than just the sport itself. The memories that I have obtained throughout my career would still be there even after I retire. I would also be able to have another job in the sports industry such as coaching so the sport will not be completely gone from my life. Then there is one more reason and it is the most important reason. It because I would have family to look forward to spending the rest of my life with. My career may be over with and no fans will remember me, but my family will always be there for me.
ReplyDeleteThe life that I would choose would be to let my fame die out when I get old and retire from what I do. The reason I say that is because I don't care what anyone has to say about me as long as I live my life the way I want to live it. Life is too short to listen to what people have to say about you because in the end it's just you and family while everyone is busy trying to do what they can do to make their lives better.

DeleteI completely agree with what you wrote about accomplishing the goals you are happy with. You should not care about what others have to say or think about you as long as you are satisfied with your own life.
DeleteIf I had a choice to choose any one of 2 choices of how I would choose to end and die I would choose the one I think is the best and more accurate. I would choose dying as a champion. What I mean by this Is I would rather die being a champion by being the best at what I can do. I would want to die like a special figure like Michael Jordan who back in the day was good at basketball is still recognized. He is still remembered as one and the only best player of basketball I want to die like him a figure that will never be forgotten with a living and accomplishing career and legacy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Dan because I wouldn’t want to be the only one to have money lose it and lose my records I would rather die when imp in fame so I would be remembered.
DeleteIf i had a choice to either Die young as a champ or Die old with a bad rep. i would rather Die young as a champ. i would want to die young as a champ because i would know that i did very well for such a young athlete. i can say i actually made it. for exampel, Biggie Smalls died young, he died 3 years after being famous, he died at age 25, and he lived his life to the fullest at that age. but dying with a bad rep wouldnt be bad because you still have your dignity my still being alive and not caring what people say or think about you. but i would rather die young because of how much ive done at such a young age.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you because if you’re still alive you’ll be less and less famous every year. I would rather have fame and then die at my peek.
DeleteI would rather live my life famous, and rich. I earned all my fame, and fortune, and I deserve to spend all my money before the day I die. Not being greedy like I would have lots of money I would like to go places with my wife and children with the money we have. I'm picking if you don't know to die old. I would get my family beautiful things, and make awesome memories. I loved my fame and fortune so let me live the rest my life I guess.
