In February, Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested for assaulting his fiancee, Janay. Video captured him dragging Janay (now is wife) from an elevator after the two had been fighting. The NFL suspended him for two games. Recently, TMZ released additional video footage that shows Rice in the elevator knocking Janay out with a punch. Many people feel the two game suspension from the NFL is too easy on Rice and the penalty should be much stiffer. What do you think?
I do not believe that the punishment on Ray Rice should affect his game play. The Court system and and NFL are two different things and should not affect each other. Rice is a very valuable player on the Ravens and what he did should not affect the team. Other innocent people should not have to suffer for his actions. If he committed a violation during a game then i believe he should be suspended. What happened out side of the game should stay out of the game.
ReplyDeleteThe last statement you said what he does in the game and its violent he should get kicked out. I believe that either way NFL athletes shouldn’t be doing anything stupid after the season. If I was Ray Rice I would be with my family or getting ready for the preseason. Yes he was having a good time with his wife, but what gives him the right to punch her after having a good time. The things that would get him off his game play is doing dumb things like that. Look at some of the other NFL superstars that done worse than him and the got suspended to which all the NFL superstars should. I think it would be better if the NFL athletes should be focused on family, training, and the preseason only.
DeleteI disagree with you because on or off the gameplay he was still signed to the team or on the job when he did what he did. He shouldn;t be of the the NFL for life because hitting a woman is beyond any point. But it doesnt make it ok when he wasn't on the field.
DeleteI believe that Ray Rice got off really easy getting 2 games suspension for his display of domestic violence. He is role model to a lot of kids from Baltimore and probably more places throughout the US, I believe as an athlete he should be held to a higher standard than regular people. I believe the thing that makes it look worse is the fact that Josh Gordon got suspended for the entire season for marijuana use .So it seems that Roger Goodall believes smoking weed is a bigger deal then beating your wife. Ray Rice should have been suspended for 6 to 8 games.
ReplyDeleteI also thought that Ray Rice should have been penalized way worse rather than just being suspended for two games. The NFL should have defiantly dealt differently with the situation since like you said, Ray is a role model to his fans and should be held at higher standards. Ray Rice should have taken responsibility for his actions and the NFL should have penalized him a bit more harshly then just a two game suspension
DeleteI strongly agree with you on you're point that athletes are more respected then normal people. Kids do look up to them as role models and always want to be just like them. If a kid sees his favorite sports player doing drugs, or abusing a women they're going to think its completely ok and won't have a problem doing it. The suspension he got is way to short for what he deserved, I think 6-8 games like you said is pereect.
DeleteI believe that because Ray Rice plays a professional sport and because the media follows sports and professional athletes closely that Ray's punishment for domestic abuse as a player in the NFL should have been harsher. Because he is a professional athlete he is held to a higher standard than other "regular" people. Kids as well as some other adults look up to him and if he isn't given harsh repercussions people may start to believe that domestic abuse is okay. Being a professional athlete may be his job, but it is also a privilege that can be taken away. His getting into this trouble makes his team look bad as well as himself.
ReplyDeleteI believe Ray Rice got off way too easy. How professional athletes act should absolutely affect their game play. Hitting a woman is never okay, neither is a woman hitting a man but that is less likely. I believe Ray Rice should be suspended for a while, since you can clearly see him in the video knock her out, he does not have solid defense. She didn't hit him or anything she went towards him, but never hit him. He should be a role model towards younger people so he should realize what he does is going to have consequences.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. We are both athletes and know that athletes are held to a higher standard than the general public. Ray Rice surely understood that and knows he should be punished for his actions. Should he have been punished twice? That question should be left up to the NFL.
DeleteI believe Ray Rice got off way to easy with a 2 game suspension for his for act domestic violence. Many young people look at Ray Rice not only as a football player, but as a role model. In my opinion I think he should have been suspended the whole season. Josh Gordon of the Cincinnati Bengals got suspended the whole NFL season for violation the drug substance abuse policy. Gordon is only harming himself by doing drugs, not other people. Ray Rice on the other hand hit his wife and the whole world knows about it and thinks he is a bad person. In the video that TMZ posted it shows Rice hitting his wife very hard a knocking her unconscious, and then he dragged her out of the elevator which was a very wrong thing to do. She did not hit him or even touch him, so therefore he shouldn't even touch her, and even if she did hit him, there is no reason why he should hit a woman. Now throughout the world everyone looks at Ray Rice as a women abuser and no longer looks up to him. So in my opinion I think Ray Rice should have been suspended the whole season instead of only 2 games.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Moe! He should have gotten suspended more from the very beginning since I heard that Roger Goodall has had the video of Ray rice and his wife in the elevator since April. As an athlete so many people look up to this man and by the public seeing that video it tarnishes the image of the NFL and the Ravens. Kids should not look up to a womanbeater.
DeleteI agree with you that Ray Rice got off too easy at the beginning, he only got a two game suspension. But now I think what he got is too much and its unfair that he got punished twice for one act of crime. Like you said people get a longer suspension for smoking weed and they're not harming anyone but themselves which is completely true. But the NFL knew what he did, they knew he knocked his fiancee out. He admitted to it himself, it was the NFL's fault for not making the right punishment from the start.
DeleteI think ray rice got off way to good. I think he should have never hit his wife. He messed up by doing that. I think he should have a longer game suspension because the girl should never get hit that not good. He should know how to control his anger and if he doesn't then he should not be playing football. He should be suspended for the whole year. No one should ever have the right to hit a girl. He should have a way bigger suspension. This will not effect how he plays during the game and he will not be worried about anything because she is his wife now and they are happy.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Ray Rice got off way to easy with only 2 game suspension for domestic violence. Other players in the NFL get 6games-full season suspensions for drugs. Doing drugs only harms himself but domestic violence harms whoever you hit and yourself. Another reason i think Ray rice should have gotten a full season suspension is he hit a women, i think if he hit a male it should of been a 6game suspension. Yesterday the NFL suspended Ray Rice indefinitely from playing in the Nation football league. Ray Rice's contract with the Ravens was also terminated. I believe the NFL corrected itself yesterday after giving Ray Rice a 2 games suspension only the first time.
ReplyDeleteI believe Ray Rice did get away with what he did and should've got a little more of a consequence. I mean c'mon just 2 games for beating your wife while Other professional players are getting suspended for ENTIRE seasons for the usage of marijuana. Domestic violence is a very serious matter and and especially beating women, that was someones daughter and I would be very angry if someone had did that to my family. And not only only that he has a high-status and many people look up to him as a role-model and leader, and some kids probably see him as a woman beater now and maybe think its okay to put their hands on women. I think he should have been laid off for a whole 2 seasons and given time to think about what he did. I believe it is an action a player must know and think of how he looks before he do.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with what you are saying. He did get away way to east with only a 2 game suspension. Also, people are getting suspended the whole season for the use of drugs while Rice only got 2 games for domestic violence. People also looked up to him as a role model, and now they don't even like him for what he has done, and people think bad of him. I agree with what you are saying.
DeleteI agree with Drey because only a two game suspension for something that puts people in jail for a while and some althletes of have gotten Dui's and have gotten move time then in for something that isn't as bad.
DeleteI do agree with what was said but he shouldn't have been suspended more. He got what was coming and that's what happens. The rules are changed so now its longer but you cant suspend him more or give him another punishment after giving him one already.
DeleteI angree with Dre that Ray Rice got what he deserved but the punishment wasn't enough. He hit a female and should actually do time because other guys get time for doing drugs and stealing, and the NFL makes a big deal out of shaving points. He was removed from the Ravens but still not enough.
DeleteRay Rice's consequence was not as severe as it should have been, but I also think suspending him for almost the entire season or more is too much. I do understand that no man should ever hit a woman no matter what, but what the National Football League gave him his consequence, so the Baltimore Ravens shouldn't have suspended him. It inst fare because he already received the two game suspension. I think the NFL should check their book and switch the rule of smoking and domestic abuse around. Domestic abuse should be a five game suspension and smoking should be three. Lastly, any man that hits a woman when arguing or any confrontation needs to be punished harshly, Rice didn't just hit her, he leveled her and she was out cold. His fiancee didn't lunge at him either, she fell forward after the first tap to the skull.
ReplyDeleteI think the two game suspension they gave him was fare enough, i don't think they should have dropped him from the Ravens. It is not right for a man to hit a girl but they took it way to fare dropping him. Another team will pick him up.
DeleteI know that another team will pick him up but I understand what you mean, he is a good player and he has a good background, he still needs a stronger punishment though and it wasn't cool that he rocked her like that.
DeleteI think Ray Rice’s punishment was way too short. The punishment for assaulting a woman should be 6 or 7 games at least. But, just because the video has gone viral and the public’s response was so bad, I don’t think the NFL should change the punishment for Ray Rice. There were no rules about this situation and the NFL has seen the video months back so they should just stick with their decision. It would not be fair for Ray Rice to receive an extended punishment for a thing he was punished for earlier. This situation just makes the NFL look bad because most of the public believes that Ray Rice should have gotten a more strict punishment initially, not after the public’s reaction.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI agree with you completely, it's clear that what Ray Rice did was haneously wrong, but to punish him twice for the same crime is unreasonable. The fact that the video came out isn't news, we all knew what happened before it came out. If he initially gets suspended indefinitely, I would have no problem with it.
DeleteI agree with you. What Ray Rice did was completely wrong but to extend his punishment on what it already was, is not right. The NFL only did that because once the full video came out and the public would go nuts if he seen the video before and only gave him a 2 game suspension
DeleteI think the NFL let him off way too easy. They saw everything that occurred inside the elevator and they still decided to only suspend him for two games. Now they want to add to his punishment because they made themselves look stupid. All they care about is their image. I think that a pro athlete's private life shouldn't intertwine with their job. A person in that position in the media shouldn't have to restrict their life. Although they are looked up to by children, it is the parent's job to educate their kids about what is right and wrong. Ray Rice's extended punishment was not fair and he should be reinstated immediatley.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the NFL let him off way to easly but the fact they punished him a second time for the same thing is just wrong. The NFL can not punish someone for twice for one thing. They just did that for the NFL look so they are not seen as bad people for letting him off with a two game suspension.I believe Ray Rice will sue the NFL and win the law suet and be able to play in the NFL again, the real issue will be trying to find a team that will sign him after everything that happened. Ray Rice's career in the NFL will never be the same after this mistake.
DeleteI agree that punishing him twice was unfair and should not of been done. His life outside of the NFL should not interfere with his career. Also I agree that children look up to him so punishing him two different times can ruin the way people think about him and make people change their opinion on his punishment.
DeleteI agree that he will sue the NFL and he will win. I do think it will be easy for him to find a team to sign with as long as he works hard and put all of this behind him.
DeleteRay Rice’s actions have absolutely no excuse. There is no excuse for abuse in a relationship ever. The way that the NFL acted and punished Ray Rice was not acceptable. He was only given a two game suspension which does not warrant his actions. Kids who are Raven fans look up to Ray Rice as role model and it is his responsibility to set a good example for them, this was set when he accepted a job that puts him on the spotlight. I learned yesterday that after the video had been released to the public of Ray Rice punching his fiancé in the elevator that the NFL suspended Rice indefinitely. I believe that the NFL has seen this video already and changed Rice’s punishment after the video was released. This is unfair to Rice and shows us that the NFL organization only cares about its public appeal.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not for public appeal. It's common for them to terminate him. It happens everywhere, they know that this was infact terrible and they knew he had to be punished because he does not belong in that league. You always take action to do what is right
DeleteI believe that the NFL did not handle Ray Rice assaulting a woman well and may have let him off too easy with only a two game suspension. He is a professional athlete and people look up to him and they want to be just like him but that should not make him feel that he can do whatever he wants. I think that he should be punished for assaulting a woman and should pay the consequences for it. I also believe that it is wrong that the NFL went back and added to his punishment after the video was released. It is unfair to Ray Rice and he should be able to play in the NFL.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the NFL did the right thing by not letting Ray Rice play for the Baltimore Ravens anymore. I’m sick to my stomach that he hit his own girlfriend at the time, now she got married to him. If I was her I wouldn't have married him. Plus even if she tried to hit him it gives him no right to hit her no excuse what so ever. Yes he was a great athlete, but athletes don't do those kinds of things. I also believe that if anyone did anything else like drugs or killing someone should be banned from the NFL as well. I'm happy he got kicked out, but the thing that twisted my mind was why they waited to this week when they should have kicked him out 9 months ago when he did it. Anyways I glad he got what he deserved and hope he learns his lesson, also he will be missed as the star running back for the Baltimore Ravens.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely. I believe they should have got rid of him as soon as they saw the first video. I feel like punishing him a second time for the exact same thing is wrong. He already got punished for it, but at the same thing, I'm glad he got punished again because his first punishment was not enough. He should have gotten the second punishment the first time.
DeleteI agree with you somewhat. I agree banning him indefinitely is the correct choice but I think they should have kept the punishment as it was, a two game suspension. The NFL messed up earlier by not banning him indefinitely initially. It's not fair for Ray Rice to have an extended punishment for what he already got punished for.
DeleteDJ, first off if you look at the video, it clearly shows that his girlfriend came at ray rice in a threatening manner to where self defense is necessary. I disagree with your entire statement because if this happened 9 months ago and the NFL waited that long to make a decision, clearly there is something wrong. If anything ray rice should be reinstated to the Ravens and the 2 game suspension is necessary only due to public outcry. 'Plus even if she tried to hit him it gives him no right to hit her no excuse what so ever.' I disagree with this statement because ray rice acted within the confines of his rights and used self defense to back his standing.
DeleteI do not agree with you DJ. What he did was morally wrong but he should not be banned or even suspended. What he did was outside of the NFL, and it doesnt affect his play. Now a days people are very sensitive to things. And if something bad happens, people want consequences to happen to the person. But who knows, he hit her because of self defense, if he didnt hit her and she kept on hitting on him maybe he would of been knocked out.
DeleteI think the NFL did let Ray Rice of really easy. I believe they should have done a better job and sentence him at least 2 weeks or something. One thing bad is he hit a women and also making the NFL image look very bad. Athletes are role models to many youth people. What kind of example are they showing us. His punishment should have been much worse even if they didn't even look at the video, assault is a very critical thing. And the NFL wasn't doing there job right.
ReplyDeleteThis incident made the NFL look so horrible and careless. I totally agree with you on how athletes should be role models and by Ray Rice abusing his wife it just shows little boys that if you are big and powerful you will not have that big of a consequence. That's horrible to teach young children.
DeleteI believe that Ray Rice was let off too easy for his suspension of only two games. Many people watch professional football and many young individuals look up to many of those professional athletes. The actions Ray Rice used against his fiancée should have gotten him suspended from the Baltimore Ravens from the very beginning. And the fact that his fiancée, now wife, is still with him is beyond crazy. Now that the video is going viral and many fans have complained, the NFL is now taking greater actions and rethinking the whole Ray Rice situation. They should have thought this thoroughly in the beginning than just choosing to suspend him for only two games because you know; punching your fiancée isn’t a bad thing…
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Marisol. The NFL should have taken larger measures of punishment the first time around. I don't think its right for them to punish him twice for the exact same thing. The NFL new what he did and should have made his punishment more severe the first time it was brought to their attention.
DeleteI agree with everything you said. His initial punishment was not harsh enough, but it's also not right to punish him twice for the same action. The fact that many young kids watch and look up to him makes what he did even worse. Because the kids see their role model do something like hitting women, they might start thinking that hitting women is okay.
DeleteI think that the NFL was right in their decision because the whole public seen his domestic violence skit. I feel that something that took place out of boundaryof the NFLshould not affect his career in football. A 2 game suspention was just and right. The public has their opinions and views that they are entitled to, but in reality his girlfriend came at him first and he went in self defense mode. If ray rice had gotten arrested and went to court, he would definatly win. I also believe that if anyone should get arrested, it should be her for assaulting ray rice.
ReplyDeleteI totally disagree with you. Ray Rice should not have hit his fiancee even if she was going to hit him. Because he is an athlete he is held to a higher standard than the general public. He is a professional athlete and needs to act like one. Children and adults look up to Ray Rice, because of this he needs to be punished so people don't think its okay for them to do the same thing.
DeleteI completely disagree with you. In the video, it looked like Ray Rice threw the first punch then his fiancee came running at him. Then Rice knocked her out. There should be no reason for him to do that. He should be able to handle the situation differently other than knocking her out. I believe you are completely wrong when you say "she should get arrested for assault".
DeleteI agree with both Hope and Dariusz. Hitting his fiancée is by far the worst thing he can possible do, especially with the fact that many young individuals look up to him and the video is going viral showing the true image of Ray Rice. I completely agree with Dariusz about how Ray Rice could have handled the situation differently besides doing what he chose to do to his fiancée.
DeleteI believe Ray Rice should have not been suspended only for 2 games. He did a really bad crime and it shows on the video. It makes him look bad and the NFL worse by only suspending him for only 2 games. I don't think he should of gotta banned from the NFL indefinitely but I think he should of gotta suspended for at least half the season. It was his own choice to do that crime so he deserves the consequences but he does not deserve to lose his job. There are many NFL players who make mistakes like Wes Welker or Josh Gordon but they didn't ban them they only suspended them and that's what I think they should of done to Ray Rice
ReplyDeleteIt was a good thing to ban Ray Rice from the NFL Indefinetly. He deserved it. It was a good cause for the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to enforce the law of domestic violence. You have a job, and that is too play football. That doesn't mean when you are not playing football, to do drugs or to go beat on your wife. Yes I believe everyone has the freedom to do what they please, but if you would like to keep your job as a professional athlete, you better obey the restrictions you have, that's why there is contracts. To let you know what you should do and cannot do. Don't like them or disobey them, then they have the right to kick you out the league
DeleteI agree with Ted because he did deserve it. What he did was very bad as a person and their own image, but you most not forget that he's a football player an role model to many of the youth and when seeing that its a very bad example of a role model. And for suspending him indefinitely was very right and he shouldn't be allowed back.
DeleteIf you were to ask a group of individuals for their opinion on the Ray Rice incident you may get mixed feelings from most. Some may say that because the case did not involve him injuring a fellow player, the punishment should not be as gruesome because it happened off the field. Others compare this situation to taking drugs. To me, hurting someone physically, who is a girl, which is YOUR FIANCÉE, is way more tragic than having marijuana in your system. Im not saying that drugs are not bad but when it comes to hurting your own self, its your choice, hurting another individual is far way worse because the other person has no control over your actions and deserves a tough punishment. What Ray Rice did was so bad that he should be suspended for the whole season, he is a role model for many young boys and for him to do such a thing puts the wrong picture into their minds. He should be suspended for the rest of the season until he proves the the media that he is truly sorry for what he has done.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you said hurting someone is wrong especially since it is his fiancee and he does deserve the punishment he received. What he did was wrong for his image as an NFL player. People do look up to him as a professional athlete and if they see him doing it they might not find it as a bad thing.
DeleteI totally agree with everything you said. I also do not understand how smoking marijuana could get a worse punishment than hurting another human being. Especially in this case where it was his fiancee. What he did hurt his reputation and the reputation of the NFL. He should have been banned for the rest of this season from the moment his case was opened.
DeleteIn my own opinion, I think that Ray Rice from the Baltimore Ravens was let off way to easy with the way he treated his wife. Ray Rice is a popular football player and a role model to many of his fans and his actions where not the type of actions a role model should have taken. I believe that the NFL should have given Ray Rice harsher consequences and not just a lousy two game suspension. Since I think that domestic violence should have higher consequences, I think that the NFL did a poor job of penalizing Ray Rice and they should have suspended him for way more then only two games, regardless of what the press and the fans had to say.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Vicky! Ray Rice was lead off too easy. A two game suspension is not enough punishment for what he did to his wife. the NFL did a horrible job penalizing him and definitely they need to come up with new policies and punishments if it were to happen again.
DeleteI definitely agree with both of you. Ray Rice did a terrible thing and his consequences did not match to the crime that he committed. Ray should have recieved harsher punishment the first time around. The NFL did a very uncivilized thing; charging Ray twice for the same crime is very illegal.
DeleteI felt like the Nfl messed up and let Ray Rice off easy because right after they gave him the two game suspension they issued a rule saying for any domistic violence it is a six game suspension. But the terminating his contract with the Ravens I felt should have been done the first time instead of the two game suspension. Like with Aaron Hernandez when he killed that guy the Patriots and nfl terminated their contract with him immediately because he did a bad thing that makes the Nfl look bad.
ReplyDeleteI think the NFL made a mistake by making Ray Rice's punishment so short. It is unacceptable for a person that is considered a role model by young children can get away with something like punching and knocking out his fiancee. A two game ban is not even close to what he sould have faced. That was an initial mistake by the NFL. Now after several months have passed since the incident and Ray Rice has served his punishment I don't believe it is right for him to be punished again for something he has already been punished for even though his initial punishment wasn't harsh enough.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you said its not right that the NFL punished him twice. Even though he did do something bad that deserves to be punished for, its not right to go back after his first punishment and add on to it. This makes the NFL look bad because it shows how they can't take care of their players wrong actions.
DeleteI partially agree with what you are saying. People all over the country look up to the athletes, and clearly all of this fame is getting to their heads. They need to take a step back and think of what they are doing. On the other hand, the NFL could have acted a little faster when it came to the punishment because we all know they had all of the footage before hand. But how he acted was unacceptable and he deserves the punishment he is getting whether it comes sooner or later.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteOn this one i agree and disagree with the decision the NFL made. I agree that they should of took him off longer then 2 games because hitting a woman is way to bad even though it was on camera. The NFL should of just took him off forever without the chance to come back or it should have been 6-10 games.
ReplyDeleteAnd i disagree because i think the NFL shouldn't have suspended him because they are interfering with his life. It shouldnt be the NFLs choice to take him off for two days because he wasnt on the field when that happened but the police should have only got involved. But if someone does something bad, most of the time they get another chance and get away with it.
When I think about what the NFL did with suspending Rice, I think that it is totally fine that they did that. You said that you disagree because he didn't do it on the field, but he is a role model for kids and what he does off his job totally affects him and the organization. If you own a business and you find out one of your workers beat on his wife or did something bad, you probably wouldn't want him working for you. Especially when there are 1000's of people who would love to replace him.
DeleteIn my opinion, Ray Rice should have been suspended in NFL longer than two games. I think he should spend some time in jail because he was a football player but also he was a normal human and he should be arrested. He was a professional football player and he knocked out his fiancee. NFL gave him a very easy punishment. Many people saw it and they dissagreed with that decision. Ray Rice understood his bad mistake and he apoligized Janay. She forgive him and now Janay is his wife.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this but I do not think his actions outside of football should affect his career. I believe he deserves to serve as much jail time as anyone else, but should not be punished as a football player. I believe he deserves some sort break due to the fact that he has a lot of stress from games and other things. What he did was a terrible thing but i do not believe that what he did should affect his career if he fought someone during a game, then that should affect his game play.
DeleteI do not agree with the decision the NFL made giving Ray Rice only a two game suspension after he hit his fiancee and knocked her out. They give longer suspensions for smoking Marijuana, when this situation is much more serious. I think he should have gotten a longer suspension but they already made their decision. But at the same time I feel like he shouldn't be punished in his career. If he was working a regular job he wouldn't be facing any punishment, he would just go back to work like nothing happened. Even though a new video was released of the actual knock out I don't think he should be punished a second time. People don't get charged twice in court or when dealing with legal action why should the NFL be able to do this?
ReplyDeleteI understand they don't want them to look bad for all their audience but they had the chance to figure out the right punishment and they picked a two game suspension, he served his punishment and I don't think he should be punished again.
I agree with you when you say that Rice should be serving a longer suspension. When you said that he shouldn't be punished in his career is the only part I disagree. I think he should be punished because he hit his wife for no reason, and he should be punished.
DeleteI agree with you. He should not just lose his job after committing one crime. When other players do the same crime over and over again and they still play in the NFL. I think the next time he does something like that then he should get banned from the NFL indefinitely
DeleteIn the punishment that Ray Rice was issued was way too easy on him. There's is one thing to have battery on anothe man, but a woman is a completely different subject. For a man to hit a woman, is one of the most worst things to do. You have to be some scum to hit a woman, you are a man, she can't defend herself, and he did that because he knew she couldnt. No matter the case that should never of happened. I think that them banning Ray Rice from the NFL indefinitely was perfect. He doesn't deserve to be a part of the NFL. It's a man sport, and he certainly is no man for hitting a woman like that.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said. It is absolutely unacceptable to hit a woman. The NFL did the right thing by suspending him indefinitely. I also do think it is wrong to suspend him again after he was punished already. However, I do believe they should have suspended him indefinitely the first time. They assumed he knocked out his fiancee and whether they saw the video or not their assumptions were correct so they should have just suspended him indefinitely the first time. I agree with everything you said.
DeleteI agree that Rice should have been suspended indefinitely, but that should have happened initially when the first video came out and Rice even admitted to hitting his fiancee. It is not right for him to hit a woman, but it is also not fair to him that he has to be punished twice just because more evidence came out to something he has already admitted to.
Deletei fully agree they should ban him of the NFL forever its unacceptable, it doesnt make you a man if your going to hit a woman, it makes you a coward. She didnt even attack him he came on her so i dont see the point for him to attack her,
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI agree with you that he should not hit a women but why should he lose his job on the spot. I think he should of first gotten suspended and a warning and then the next time he did that action or any other action he would get banned because everyone deserves a second chance after their mistake
DeleteAt first I believed the punishment On Ray rice was way too easy on him. Then I started thinking even more. Why would you even suspend someone that didn't affect his playing with anything that breaks the rules in the NFL. What he did outside of his work shouldn't affect what he does in the NFL. But the NFL does not want a bad image and people were going crazy he only got two games. he shouldn't even had a one game suspension. I also believe the NFL watched the original video of Ray Rice when they issued the suspension. But when it came out the public two days ago, The NFL took action and acted like they never saw the video. I also believed anyone the in NFL saw the video before two days ago should resign
ReplyDeleteI disagree with you, and you answered it because of the NFL image. The National Football League is one of the biggest sports in American that everyone follows from young to old ages. Our youth watches the NFL and with technology they can find out anything. When seeing a role model doing something like that is very bad.
DeleteWhen Ray Rice signed a contract with the Ravens he knew that he would be a role model to thousands of fans. The spotlight would be on him, and any of his actions would reflect on not just him but the Raven's organization. Fans might turn away from their team if they know that the team isn't willing to punish there players for something so serious.
DeleteI agree that this incident had nothing to do with his play on the field. his private life should be left alone.
DeleteI disagree with you because football is a sport that is watched by many people. Many young individuals look up to Ray Rice and for him to do what he did to fiancée now wife is beyond unacceptable. When you’re a professional athlete, you’re supposed to represent yourself in a good way both inside and outside of the sport. You honestly never know what can go around now a days because the word travels fast.
DeleteI agree that the punishment that Ray Rice got from the NFL was way to light. I do not understand why they did not suspend him in the first place. They had all of the videos of evidence before they were released. Some say that what goes on at home shouldn't affect what goes on on the field, but of course it does. There are people who look up to these athletes, and they try to mimic everything little thing their "hero" does. What message is being sent to these supporters when their so called "hero" is abusing his wife, and all he gets is a two game suspension?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you because role models should do things that younger people should do and follow but him hitting his wife is worse then doing drugs. He should have been cut from the team immediately after the video coming out.
DeleteI totally agree with everything you said Joanna! I think that the way the NFL dealt with the situation was unfair since they punished Ray twice instead of just fully suspending him from the start. I also agree with you on the point that Ray's fans look up to him and he shouldn't have had gotten away with what he did so easily.
