Dan Gable

Would you want Dan Gable as a coach?  As a father?  Explain.

  1. Dan Gable would be the most ruthless coach and he would push me to my limits and then some. Also he would work with me to become the best, no matter the cost. He would also want me to do the best I can do because it brings him joy. That's why I would enjoy having Dan gable as my coach.
On the other hand I would hate to have Dan as my father because he would never give me a break with his sport. Also if I was a terrible athlete at his sport he would critique in every aspect of the sport whether I liked it or not. Also his entire life would revolve around wrestling whether I was in it or not.

    1. I agree with you David. I also think Dan Gable would be a great coach. I'd love to have him as a coach because he would make me better every single day. He would push me and make me the best i can be.

    2. I disagree a bit on your hating of Dan Gable as a father. Something tells me he would be an understanding father and if you didn't like wrestling for some odd reason he wouldn't mind it that much and push you to be the best you can be at any sport of your choosing. I'm pretty sure though David that if you where a Gable you would be obsessed with wrestling like he is.

    3. I have to agree with Jordan because any father would be happy to know that their son is a real good athlete any sport they choose to participate in.

    4. I have to agree with you David on the part that his entire life would revolve around wrestling whether you liked it or not.

    5. I agree with David because I think you need your own time at home and not have your father bickering about you because you did something wrong in your match.

  3. Dan Gable would be a coach that any athlete would be wanting to have if they are serious about the sport they are doing. He would push me to my limits to become the very best. And I think he would teach me how to set up goals in my life and accomplish them, also he would teach me how to not be a quiter and expect noting but the very best. In the other hand I would not enjoy at all to be his son, I think he would not be there for me as a father, also he would have no social life. Because he would be at his sport 24/7 (dedication) but don't get me wrong he can be a good dad but he would be pretty strict.

    1. I agree on the no social life part, having a father like that could be really bad for some people.

    2. Just like Daniel said it would be terrible to have him as father because he would always be on the grind.

    3. I agree that you would have no social life at all because you would have to keep practicing on the field and of the field (at home)

    4. I feel the same as you guys. If he was your father you'd have to be working all the time. That would leave you with no free time.

    5. I agree, Dan Gable's social life would be difficult to cope with.

    6. I agree that Dan Gable seems like he would push his athletes to there limits. that's why he would be a great coach.

  4. I would love to have him as a coach just because he can push me to be my best. He can also make sure that I will always be ready for a game or match.
A coach is one thing but I would not want him as a father. I would not want him as a father because there would never be any rest with him, there would be non stop training at home. I would not like him as father also because he might be really strict and probably wont be there as a father for me when I need one.

    2. I disagree with you there Dan, i would think he would most definitely be there for you as a father when you needed him because, after his sisters death, he probably would've promised himself to be there as a father.

      Delete
    3. But the non stop training would make you great. Hard work pays off why do you think Gable got that gold medal.

    4. I disagree with you Dan on the part that he would not be there as a father. I think he would be there for everything such as, attending your games or helping you out on something.

    5. I agree that it would be nonstop training at home and he would always expect you to give 110% with everything.

  5. I would love to have Dan Gable as a coach. If he was my coach I would feel that he would be able to push me to do better and still have fun.
If he was my my father I think I would like it.then again hate it. I would like it cause he would be able.to make me better when I am not at practice. but then again my life would be at home all about sports.

    1. I Agree with you, I think he would be an exelent coach and he would make you the best while doing what he loves to do wich is wrestling. In the other hand I disagree with you, I think even if he was your father, he would not have time to spend with you and be a father because he would concentrate with wrestling all the time

  6. I would love to have Dan Gable as a coach. The way he pushes his athletes is amazing. He makes the best come out of everyone. I believe strong coaching position is important in any sports, especially wrestling. On the other hand I wouldn't want him as a father. I feel like wrestling would be more important to him and I'm not a fan or wrestling and that would disappoint him.

    1. I agree,I feel Dan Gable would try to live through you because he misses wrestling.

    2. I think in that situation, him as your father, you would both have to make sacrifices. You would have to encourage his love from wrestling and he would do the same for you.

  7. Dan Gable is a man who never quits or stops working on the things he loves especially the people he coaches. He wouldn't quit on me even if I quit on myself. He would push me to my absolute limits and further.
If Dan Gable could be my father I would like that but then I'd rather have my father who pushes me but yet is lenient and gives me all I could want with restrictions of course.

    1. I agree with you about Dan Gable never quiting on you. He would always push you no matter what you are doing. Dan Gable would make you give 100 percent.

    2. I have to disagree with Patrick Dan Gable would make you give 110 percent in what ever sport you are in.

  8. I would love for Dan Gable to be my coach. He would be great for a coach to push me and my limits. Dan wouldn't let me settle for anything even my best. Overall, he would make me a strong athlete. On the other hand, I would not like for Dan Gable to be my father. In the magazine it said that Gable would always bring up the Owings loss, and I feel he would keep bringing up my mistakes. It also said that Gable quit coaching because he could no longer stomach seeing wrestlers he cared about lose. If that's the case will Dan Gable quit being a dad if I lost?

    1. I agree with you about Dan Gable making you or any person the very best and strongest athlete you can be. This is why everybody would love him as a coach.

    2. No, I think he wouldn't quit on being a father figure. He would not give up on his own family. It would probably be hard on him seeing you lose but I personally think he won't quit on u.

    3. I agree that he would be a good coach and would make you a better and stronger athlete. I don't think he would give up on you if you lost though.

  9. I would love Dan Gable to be my coach. He is a great coach and would push me to achieve my goals. Having someone this serious about wrestling, makes me a better athlete. Also, no matter how much mistakes I did, he would never quit on me. Pushing me to another level and not give up. I wouldn't want Dan Gable to be my father because for him wrestling is more important than me playing soccer. He would be anger at me for doing a different sport than wrestling, his favorite sport. Imagine he had a son who did a different sport because he disliked wrestling? what would he feel?

    1. I agree with you about Dan Gable being angry about you doing a different sport. I think Dan Gable wouldn't like to coach someone for a different sport. I also agree about Dan Gable as a father. I feel Dan wouldn't like me for who I am if I didn't wrestle.

    4. I disagree, he would most likely support any sport you play. As long as you gave it you're all he would be proud.

    5. I don't agree with you guys because for him wrestling pretty much was his life. He wouldn't respect me as much if I did soccer rather than wrestling.

  10. I would love Dan Gable to be my coach because of all the things he accomplished him self. I could always look up to him because when times got tough I would remember all of the things Dan Gable went through in his life and it would make me push myself to be number one like him. However, I wouldn't want him as my father because I feel like your home is to take your mind off of sports and focus on school and family. After a crucial lost, I wouldn't want my father yelling at after the game is over with.

    2. I agree with what you're saying about having Dan Gable as a coach. He could be such a motivator to have as a coach look at his accomplishments.

    3. I agree, home is the place where you don't have to think about your sport and focus on other things.

    4. I agree, with all the great things he's done it would motivate me to want to be just like him. And I disagree with you're reason on not wanting him as a father. If you want to be a big time athlete I feel like you need to focus on sports at home and at school.

      Delete
    5. I agree that Dan Gable would be a good coach and would be a good reminder to keep pushing on but I also think that as a father if you lost Gable wouldn't yell at you if anything he would understand then push you harder when you are ready.

    6. I also agree that it would be frightening to be in the Gable's house but his daughters dealt with it just fine.

  11. I would like to have Dan gable as a coach because he is really into wrestling, you know that he will push you to your limits and try to make you the best. I would not like to have him as a father because if wrestling is all he did and all he cared about, would he care about his family the same way he does about wrestling?

    1. In my opinion, I think Dan Gable would care about his family just as much as wrestling. I would honestly think he would care about his family more then wrestling itself.

    2. That's the exact things I was saying. If Dan Gable had to choose between family or wrestling. I wonder what his decision would be.

  12. I would want Dan Gable as a coach because he will get the best out of his athletes. Dan Gable is a person that will put in the ultimate time and focus just to win. Dan Gable is the type of person to live and die with his athlete's. This is all you can ask for in a coach is to give you all he's got. This is the best way for the world's greatest athletes happen because of the special connection between coach and athlete. On the other hand i wouldn't like Dan Gable at all! I can tell how intense he is with his athlete that if he had a son 24 hours a day that kid would be coached. Nonstop Dan Gable would have his son on the grind and sometimes people crack under that much pressure. I feel i would be the very first person to crack under all that pressure to be the very best in everything i do.

  14. Dan Gable is one of the most dedicated athletes I know. If I had the choice of picking Dan as my coach, i wouldn't hesitate. I believe he would push me to my limits and make me an outstanding athlete. As a father, on the other-hand, i wouldn't enjoy as much. The reason being, he wouldn't let me have a social life do to how much he trained, i feel, he would do the same to me, and that is not to my liking.

    1. I agree that he wouldn't let you have a social life because even himself never did see a sunset.

    2. I disagree with Kyley, Dan Gable would not want his kids to be as anti social as he was for the reason that hanging out with other athletes might help you any many ways such as getting better at wrestling, baseball, football, etc.

  15. I would want Dan Gable to be my coach because he would push me to do the best my body physically and mentally could handle. Having gable as a coach would be tough but it would most likely bring success to my life in soccer. Otherwise i would not want to have Dan Gable as my coach because i feel that he would bring his coaching attitude toward my life at home and i wouldn't have the freedom that i have right now.

    1. Dan Gable would sound like a great coach, making you a better soccer player. I also feel the same about him being my father. He would be one tough and strict father.

  16. Dan Gable, in my view, has to be one of the most inspirational people in sports today. Having Dan Gable as a coach would be such an honor. The reason being is because I knwo he would push to to limits I never knew I had. Just seeing how he coached Iowa State to 15 national championships makes me believe I could win too. I would love to have a coach who would never take no for an answer. I feel like he would push me to be the best, and I would win my own set of championships.
As a father figure I have a different opinion. I would not like Dan as a father for the simple fact that he looks like he cares more about the sport then about his family. I feel as if he wouldn't be there as much and he would always be mad at me if i never succeeded. Im not saying he's a bad father, i would just like to have be a tougher father than a wrestler.

  17. To be honest I would love to have Gable as a coach. He would push you until you cried. It would be so cool to have a coach that has an Olympic gold medal to. Gable to me would be the ultimate package in a coach. He's motivated to stick to one thing and never giving up. Gable is also a legend. So getting advice from him alone would be an honor. He really knows how to win which is a plus. And as a father I think he'd be a good fit! Gable has such good qualites. He'll be there for every one of you're games and support you no matter what. You wouldn't have to just wrestle. I'm sure he would be by you're side no matter what sport you play. Gabel is also a very emotional guy. So if you need advice you can always go straight to him. So Gable would be a geat coach and good father figure to me.

    1. I agree having someone that experience and winning the Olympics makes a great coach! I don't think he good be a good father because he would always be training and working out rather than doing something with his family.

    2. I dont think Gable would be a good father either because he would be to strict and rough on his children. Especially if he was your coach that would make it even harder for me to see him as a father he would constantly having you thinking about the sport and practicing instead of acting like a dad.

    3. I agree with you Josh, having him as a coach would be awesome because he won a gold medal in the Olympics and he knows how it feels to be a champion.

  18. Dan Gable would be my choice for a coach any day. Dan Gable has that desire, inspiration, and motivation not any coach has. It would not matter what sport you play, whether it be baseball, football, soccer Dan Gable has techniques and advice for any athlete. In my personal opinion Gable will push me, break me, and make me that's why i would like for Dan Gable to be my coach.

  19. I would love for Dan Gable to be my coach. He meets all the requirements any player would want from a coach. It would be tough to be a player and be coach by him but, after all the pushing he does to his players I think I would be successful. On the other hand, I would not like Dan Gable to be my father. The fact that he doesn't like losing or seeing the people he cares about lose. Therefore, I wouldn't want mine and his relationship to be destroyed. All in all, Gable is an amazing coaching figure to me but, I wouldn't like him to be my father.

If I had Gable as a coach I know he would not give up on me until I made it to the top of whatever sport I would be doing. Although he might be the greatest coach I don't think I would want him as a father. Gable seems like he has extremely high expectations for his children. Dan Gable looks like he can be a strict parent. This is why I would one game table as a coach. I just wouldn't want him as a father.
